Communicator and editor

Mónica Corona Quiñones is a communications professional and editor with extensive experience in the cultural sector. She has also been actively involved in social communication and human rights advocacy, utilizing digital and creative tools to drive meaningful social change.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communication from Universidad Iberoamericana and has further advanced her academic expertise with postgraduate studies at the Escuela de Diseño of the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y Literatura and the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México.

 

Throughout her professional career, she served as Head of Social Communication at the Fondo de Cultura Económica (2016–2018), where she oversaw the institution's internal and external communication strategies across Mexico and its international subsidiaries. She also managed the production of more than 100 episodes of the program «Agenda Pública en los Libros» on Foro TV (2017–2019), facilitating in-depth discussions on social and cultural issues through the participation of distinguished academics and artists from both national and international spheres.

Between 2011 and 2017, she contributed as a columnist for the International Documentary Film Festival DocsMX and co-hosted the radio program "Kinestesias: voces de la Cineteca" (2011-2014), a collaboration between the Cineteca Nacional and the Instituto Mexicano de la Radio. Currently, she is responsible for the editorial coordination of the commemorative collection celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Cineteca Nacional.


Her community and cultural engagement includes fostering the connection between chess and cinema through programs at PILARES CDMX and the Biblioteca de México (2020-2022). She has also spearheaded digital activism campaigns (2022-2023) that champion women's rights and support vulnerable groups.


Her interdisciplinary work consistently integrates feminist perspectives, critical analysis, and creativity, contributing significantly to the understanding and transformation of social and cultural dynamics. A steadfast commitment to human rights, gender equity, and sex-gender diversity is at the core of all her endeavors.
